Who do I talk to about highway directional signage to my property?

Permits and information regarding Tourist Oriented Directional Signs can be found on the "Laws, Rules and Regulations" page at the New Hampshire Department of Transportation website at http://www.nh.gov/dot/laws/index.htm. The tourist information signage information can be found under the “DOT Regulations” section.

How can I get bulk orders of the New Hampshire Visitor Guides, State Highway Maps and Seasonal Events Guides?

Quantities of the New Hampshire Visitor Guides, State Highway Maps and Seasonal Events Guides are available free of charge to local information centers, chambers of commerce, regional tourism associations, and state welcome centers*. To order, contact the Division of Travel and Tourism Development at 603-271-2665 or email travel@dred.state.nh.us.

*For groups other than the aforementioned, bulk orders of our literature can be purchased by completing a purchase order available on this website, which breaks down the cost per case and quantities. Purchase order must be sent to the Division of Travel and Tourism Development along with payment in order for the bulk brochure request to be fulfilled.

How do I register my business with the state?

To register your business with the Secretary of State, contact them at 603-271-3244 or visit http://www.nh.gov/sos/corporate.

Is there any grant money available for the tourism industry?

Yes. The New Hampshire Joint Promotional Program (JPP) provides assistance to tourist promotion organizations to encourage the development of quality out-of-state and in-state promotion projects.

The primary goals of the program are to assist in the development of New Hampshire as a year-round vacation destination, increase the length of stay, and to raise the level of quality of the projects done by local, regional and statewide organizations in order to maintain a strong economic base in the state.

Can I apply for distribution of my brochure even though I am not printing it with JPP funds

Yes, with approval from the Division of Travel and Tourism Development.

What is eligible to be listed in the Calendar of Events on www.visitnh.gov?
Events submitted for consideration must be open to the general public, of general appeal to visitors and not require lodging (properties may wish to inquire about submitting a package to our web site if this is the case.)

Events submitted for consideration must be held within the state of New Hampshire. A New Hampshire telephone number must also be provided.

Listings promoting commercial retail sales in any way will not be included in the calendar as these are considered to be commercial advertisements (eg. midnight madness sales, button discount events, sidewalk sales.) Exceptions to these are listings where the sales are not the primary focus of the event (eg. Main Street events featuring entertainment, food vendors, etc. that offer discounts at local businesses during the featured event.)

How do I get my local event on www.visitnh.gov?

To list your events, please go to www.visitnh.gov and click the Industry Members tab on the right hand side. Log in to your account and click the "Add Event" button to add your event. The event will be approved by DTTD and should appear on the website within 24-72 hours.

The events that you input are also collected four times a year and published in the official state events calendars (printed version) that are distributed at the state welcome centers, to the media and the travel trade. The events that you post are also used by our Public Relations staff and representatives to generate press releases both domestically and internationally. Additionally they are used by the travel trade (tour operators and travel agents) to include in their itineraries.

How do I get my brochure in the Welcome Information Centers?

The Welcome Center Information Brochure Distribution Program will be evolving over the next several months. The Division of Travel and Tourism Development (DTTD) is taking steps to provide brochure distribution opportunities for the entire New Hampshire tourism industry at the State Department of Transportation Welcome Information Centers. A standardized racking system and efficient distribution through a contractor solicitation will be provided, thus being able to accommodate more varieties of brochures and alleviating some of the current delivery challenges. Those interested in distributing tourism literature at the Welcome Information Centers shall complete an application found at www.visitnh.gov under the Industry Members section and return it to the address by the deadlines listed, along with samples of the publication. DTTD staff will evaluate each request, and where applicable, a written approval will be returned, along with a list of Welcome Information Centers for which the applicant shall be approved. Applicants that are denied shall receive an explanation letter and a copy of the policy with the reason for denial outlined. A list of alternative literature distribution companies shall also be included.

When is the next Governor and Executive Council meeting?

The Governor and Executive Council meetings are typically held on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Executive Council meeting schedule can be found at: http://admin.state.nh.us/comm/index2.asp
